SPN 5246 concerns SCR operator inducement severity. Read the full fault list and the OEM description to establish the initiating condition. The SPN alone does not specify one countdown or speed-reduction sequence for every engine.

Resolve the initiating fault
- Record all active SPNs, FMI values, warning lamps, displayed restrictions and timers. Identify the engine and calibration.
- Follow the OEM procedure for the initiating fault; possibilities must be established from the actual fault list rather than the inducement code alone.
- After repair, use the specified verification and inducement recovery process. Do not promise that a code clear, battery disconnect or parked regeneration will reset every application.
- Confirm the final fault status and operating restrictions before returning the vehicle to service.
